ELECTION RESULTS: Incumbents Win Reelection in FF, Hazelwood Board Races, Behlmann, McNeil, Ponder Elected

Mark Schmidt Loses Council Seat

Incumbents won reelection in school board races in both Hazelwood and Ferguson-Florissant districts on Monday and Florissant will have a new councilmen, all based on unofficial results in the April 4 elections.

The a one-half of 1 percent sales tax proposal on the ballot that will go for funding “to improve police and public safety” throughout St. Louis County got a large 63 percent majority with over 100,000 affirmation votes

In the Hazelwood School District had races for three seats on the school board. Brenda Youngblood, the only incumbent, won. She will be joined by Mark Behlmann, who along with former state rep Margo McNeil were also elected Tuesday. All three winners each had 6700 plus votes. Behlmann, long-time board member, will return to the Hazelwood Board. He had left in 2015. Elizabeth Rachel finished forth, about 1250 short of getting a board position.

In the Ferguson-Florissant School District, incumbents for the three seats on the board, Donna Paulette-Thurman and Rob Chabot were reelected. A newcomer Jessica Ponder of Florissant, took the third available seat actually finishing second behind Paulette-Thurman and just ahead of Chabot.

In Florissant incumbent Councilman Mark Schmidt, a longtime council member, lost 514-364 to Robert Parson, an attorney. Parson is the first African-American elected to the Florissant Council. Incumbent Jeff Caputa won his second term as Ward 4 councilman, topping a write-in candidate.
