Making Top 5% Police Dept. List

The Hazelwood Police Department announcesd that the Commission on Accreditatio n for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) has completed its assessment of the department and found it to be in compliance with the reviewed national standards.

HPD representatives were awarded the national accreditation at the CALEA conference in Huntsville, AL, capping off the process that started in 2016.

   Achieving accreditation means the agency is in compliance with about 400 applicable national standards for how police do their work, which includes everything from how the agency deals with use of force incidents to how evidence is stored.

This accomplishment places the HPD into the top five percent of police departments in the country that have achieved this national accreditation.
