Mizzou’s Inability to Play With the Elite, Could Hurt Recruiting

By Randy Gardner

LAST WEEK, I OPENED MY BIG MOUTH AND PUT MY FOOT RIGHT IN IT AS I PREDICTED THAT THE MISSOURI TIGERS WOULD WIN BY 10 POINTS IN THE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME AGAINST OKLAHOMA. WHAT I MEANT TO SAY WAS THAT THEY WOULD SCORE 10 POINTS, JUST JOKIN!. I REALLY THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS THE KIND OF GAME THAT THE TIGERS COULD WIN.

THEY HAD NO PRESSURE AT ALL BECAUSE THEY WERE EXPECTED TO LOSE ANYWAY, SO I THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE RELAXED AND THAT THEY would go out and just go crazy. But it was JUST THE OPPOSITE, THE GAME CALLING WAS HORRIBLE.

I GUESS THIS REALLY PUTS HOW GOOD THE TIGErs are into perspective. Yes, they CAN BEat THE SOFTIES BUT WE HAVE SEEN THIS YEAR THAT WE ARE NOT READY TO PLAY WITH THE BIG BOYS. THE GAME WAS AN UTTER DISGRACE AND IT SCARES ME BECAUSE THIS COULD REALLY hurt recruiting chances FOR NEXT YEAR WHEN THE TEAM Gets beaten the way they did on NATIONAL TV.

THIS JUST IN, ITS MONDAY NIGHT AND OKLAHOMA JUST SCORED AGAIN ON THE TIGERS, THAT’S HOW BAD IT WAS. THE TIGERS WILL NOW PLAY IN THE ALAMO BOWL AGAINST NORTHWESTERN (9-3. the same as M.U.), AT LEAST THEY CAN PROBABLY SALVAGE A BOWL WIN HERe, AS JUST A FEW YEARS BACK WE WOULd have given anything to even see the Tigers IN A BOWL GAME.

FOR GARY PINKEL TO BE SUCCESSFUL, HE HAS TO CLOSE THE BORDERS AND NOT LET THESE GREAT ST. LOUIS AND KANSAS CITY PLAYERS GET OUT OF THE STATE. HE HAS TO RECRUIT OUR TOP PLAYERS ALONG WITH SOME OTHERS FROM OTHER STATES.

You Knew Early That Arizona Would Win

ON TO THE RAMS, SHOULD I EVEN GET STARTED ON THIS TEAM. LAST WEEK I TOOK A BREAK FROM TALKING ABOUT THEM BUT HOW CAN YOU NOT. THE TEAM WENT INTO ARIZONA AND YOU COULD JUST FEEL IT FROM THE GET GO THAT THE CARDINALS WERE GOING TO HAVE THEIR WAY WITH THE RAMS AND THEY DID.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE, MARC BULGER DID PLAY A LITTLE BIT BETTER ALONG WITH STEVEN JACKSON, EXCEPT FOR THE FUMBLES, at least they moved the ball a bit. Will the Rams WIn another one or not? Luckily they play Seattle. A team that’s just as bad as the Rams ARE THIS YEAR.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Kurt Warner and THE ARIZONA CARDINALS THOUGH AS THEY WIN THE DIVISION AND MOVE ON INTO THE PLAYOFFS. THIS IS A FEAT THAT hasn’t been done since the 1970S WITH THE CARDIAC CARDS AND HAVEN’T HAD A Home playoff game since the 1940S, NOW THERE’S A RECORD BREAKER. GOOD LUCK TO KURT AND THE CARDS.

CHRISTMAS IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS OUT THERE TO THINK OF GETTING YOUR SPORTS LOVING FRIENDS, THINGS THAT SOMETIMES YOU DON’T THINK OF. HOW ABOUT A TICKET TO A GAME FOR NEXT YEAR, WHETHER ITS TO THE BLUES, CARDS, RAMS, OR EVEN GATEWAY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY TO SEE A RACE. A LOVED ONE WOULD ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE OF ANY OF THESE AND HEY, YOU GET TO GO TOo, how cool is that. Less than two WEEKS TO GET THAT SHOPPING DONE. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
