Gov. Nixon at Grand Opening of

Centene’s New Ferguson Center

Gov. Jay Nixon on Friday helped celebrate the grand opening of Centene Corporation’s new Ferguson Service Center, a $25 million investment that is employing more than 250 people. Centene, a Fortune 500 healthcare company, initially announced plans to build the 45,000-square-foot claims processing center in Ferguson in early September of 2014.

“Centene’s commitment to build in Ferguson has been both compassionate and visionary,” Gov. Nixon said. “I want to thank the leadership of Centene for not only transforming the health of our communities through the work that will be done here, but also for making this incredible investment in jobs to create economic opportunities for Missourians from Ferguson and throughout the region.”

To facilitate the company’s expansion, the Governor’s administration partnered with St. Louis Community College to provide targeted job training resources through the Missouri Works Training program. In order to receive the incentives from the Missouri Department of Economic Development, the company must meet specific job creation and investment criteria.

Missouri Works Training is offered through the Department of Economic Development’s Division of Workforce Development in cooperation with local educational agencies, such as the community colleges and area career education schools.
