Florissant Offers Debris Pickup
Service For Flood Victims in City
The federal government approved Governor Jay Nixon’s request for assistance in the removal of debris associated with the recent heavy rains and flooding from the heavy late December rains. The state will begin scheduling curbside pickup of flood damaged debris (including items damaged by sewer backups) in participating communities.
This pickup will be free to residents, businesses and participating communities.
Mayor Thomas P. Schneider announced this assistance will be available to residents and businesses. City personnel are coordinating the debris pickup efforts with the National Guard and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Those with debris pickup needs should contact the City’s Public Works Department at 314-839-7648 and provide their address, contact information and an estimate of the quantity of debris (in cubic yards) for pickup. This information will be passed to the National Guard for pickup scheduling.
Pickup dates have not been scheduled yet but we will provide updates as they become available.
Residents and businesses that have flood or sewer backup-related debris are asked to bring the debris to the curb and to separate the materials by type. Guidance for separating debris is available on the front of the city’s website and may also be found at http://www.mo.gov/flood-recovery. Please use safe lifting practices while moving items and remember to thoroughly wash up after handling the debris.
