Hazelwood Central Grad Leads Johns Hopkins Physics Team

Lisa Blodgett will lead the Applied Physics Laboratory force projection sector at Johns Hopkins University in Maryland. Blodgett, a Florissant native and graduate of Hazelwood Central High School, was formerly mission area executive for sea control at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Science Laboratory. In her new role, she will be responsible for the precision strike, sea control and strategic deterrence mission areas.

“I attended Hazelwood schools from elementary through high school, and the lessons I learned in those classrooms are part of what shaped me and helped me achieve my new role,” said Blodgett. “Thanks to social networking, I was thrilled to receive congratulatory notes from some of my teachers — the very same folks who influenced and encouraged my educational path into engineering. It’s been rewarding to re-connect with these teachers, and be able to show what one can achieve with a solid education and great teachers.”

She is also a member of a Defense Science Board Task Force on unmanned undersea systems, an advisory council for the National Defense Industrial Association undersea warfare division and the Submarine Superiority Technical Advisory Group.
