The Florissant City Council held a public hearing on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) budget Monday night. The budget is proposed by the Citizens Participation Committee (CPC) with the assistance of Grant Administrator and City Housing Director Denise Mandle. The budget must then be approved by the council.

The $200,000 grant will split as follows: $146,500 to the home improvement loan program, $10,000 to the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), $3,500 to Jamestown New Horizons, and $40,000 for administration of the fund.

Several members of the council thanked the CPC for all the work they do with the grant.

In other matters, the city council:

o Held a public hearing on a request by Premier Truck Tops to store unlicensed vehicles on the property at 365 North Highway 67.

o Held a public hearing to amend the zoning code to allow nursing homes and continuing care retirement facilities in residential districts with a special use permit. This is first step for a new plan for the Maloney Manor site, which was never completed.
