Hazelwood Interim Supt. Names 3 New Administrators for ‘15-‘16

The Hazelwood School District (HSD) Board of Education has announced the hiring of additional new administrators for the 2015-2016 school year.At the April 14 board meeting, the Board of Education approved the hiring of the following administrators:

Ty McNichols was appointed principal at Barrington Elementary. McNichols previously served as superintendent of the Normandy School District, later known as the Normandy Schools Collaborative. Prior to working in Normandy, McNichols served as assistant superintendent of learning and accountability for the Hazelwood School District from 2008-2011. McNichols earned his doctor of education in education administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1999.

Jason Cox will serve as principal at McCurdy Elementary. Previously he served as instructional specialist at Walker Elementary School in the Hazelwood School District and has been with the District since 2001. He earned a master’s of science in education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Nicole Huffman will serve as principal at Northwest Middle. Previously she served as assistant principal at Central High and has been with the District since 2012. She earned a master’s of arts in educational administration from Lindenwood University in 2007.

“I welcome Dr. McNichols back to the Hazelwood School District. He has 27 years of experience in education that will serve our students and staff well,” said Ingrid Clark-Jackson, interim superintendent of Hazelwood School District. “I also want to congratulate Jason Cox and Nicole Huffman on their new roles with the District. All of the finalists had impressive accomplishments and experience in education.”

Clark-Jackson has been appointed interim superintendent as Supt. Grayling Tobias is on an undisclosed medical leave from the district.
