Sometimes I Get it Right; Made the Right Call on Bradford For Foles Trade

Every once in a while a blind squirrel will find a nut and that is luckily what happened to me. A few weeks ago I had mentioned in my column to just dump Sam Bradford and eat his salary and move on. Get a big name QB with a big name and then draft a young quarterback to be mentored behind him.

I had so many people tell me what a fool I was about getting rid of Bradford. Like most of the other stuff I write about, I just take the criticism and move on.

When the Rams announced the deal trading Bradford to the Eagles and the Rams getting Nick Foles, I was thrilled that I finally called something ahead of time. Then they signed Case Keenum as a backup QB.

Will this put seats in the stands? I actually think it will, it shows that the Rams are not stuck in this constant rut that they have been in for years. The Rams are making some moves on the D-Line and looking for some O-Line players that can make a difference.

The Rams got Nick Fairley from the Lions and Akeem Ayers from the Patriots. When the Rams make a move like this it is sending a message that we are here to stay and play. I am excited, I know we are a long way away but let’s go Rams.

Lots of Way to Fill Your Brackets

Do you have your brackets ready to go. I heard this morning that there will be something like 7 million brackets filled out across the country. This is the time of year when it doesn’t make a darn bit of difference whether you know anything about basketball or sports that you become a fan.

It consumes offices of all sizes and friends in all circles. I can honestly say that its usually a guessing game on who wins. A few years ago, I made a bracket by the color of the teams jerseys and one year I did names of mascots and then names of schools that were familiar to something else in my life. Those three years, I had better brackets than when I actually knew something about all of the teams involved.

That is what makes March madness great, there are always Cinderella teams that make it into the Sweet Sixteen. It’s awesome. This is the time that stars and careers are made. Memories that will last a lifetime.

But the bottom line is: can anyone stop Kentucky?

Cards baseball is just around the corner, actually if you are a true fan it is already here. The Cards have such a deep rotation this year that I don’t think that pitching will be a concern at all. But like hockey, it is a long season and so many things can happen. It is all about staying healthy.

The Cards are consistently a younger ball squad that develops players from the farm club up. I am curious to see who will step up this year. Every year there is a star born that we didn’t even know about at the beginning of the year. Opening day at Busch Stadium not far away. Get your red and get ready.
