Adult Egg Hunters Put all Their Eggs in One Basket

Participants of Hazelwood’s 13th annual Adult Easter Egg Hunt came ready for the somewhat cooler weather last Friday night, with blankets, coveralls, and even heating lanterns. About 300 people were estimated to have attended from 7-9 p.m.
The hunt annually held at White Birch Park, 1186 Teson Rd., for guests age 21 and over. The event was emceed, once again, by Juke Box Productions who also provided musical entertainment for the excited crowd. Guests were allowed to bring coolers, food, beverages, and lawn chairs into the park. Adult beverages seem to go along with the Adult Egg Hunt, but in moderation.
Thanks to the Valley Industries’ workers, nearly 7000 eggs were stuffed with tickets containing a limited number of prizes. Eggs were scattered throughout a roped off area behind White Birch Bay Aquatic Park.
Egg hunters were told to collect up to one dozen eggs each and turn them in to see if they revealed a winner. As the announcer yelled “Go!,” patrons rushed the lawn in search of their gems. While some had all twelve eggs within seconds, others waited it out and took the ones “leftover.”
“I wanted to be ready to get the good ones so I started as soon as they said we could and I was done pretty quick,” said Kathleen Killion, of Florissant. “I won an over sized laundry tote!”
Other prizes included crock pots, plastic storage containers, lottery scratch off tickets, fire pits, 12 packs of Sharpies, seating cushions, and shop vacs. The grand prize winner won an adult mountain bike and told crowd goers he was going to donate it to charity. Second and third place prizes were season passes to White Birch Bay Aquatic Park, which opens Saturday, May 27.
Hazelwood Communications coordinator Tim Davidson, was happy to be able to host this popular event for the thirteenth consecutive year. “We are so glad it was another successful year and plan to continue the tradition for years to come,” said Davidson.
