4 Ferguson-Florissant Wrestlers Get Medals

Four High School Wrestlers from the Ferguson Florissant School District and a Girls Freestyle Swimmer from Hazelwood West take home state medals from competition on Sept. 21.

Two McCluer North Wrestlers each finished fourth in Class Four at Mizzou Arena, University of Missouri-Columbia. Junior Efe Osagae (138 pounds) and senior Quelton Tolliver (285) each lost in the Quarterfinal round but wrestled back to third place matches before losing.

McCluer senior Demetrius Thomas rebounded from a semifnal loss in Class Three at 220 to win two matches and take thrid place. In Class Two McCluer South-Berkeley junior Lawrence Woods took fifth at 132.

In Girls Swimming at the St. Peters Rec-Plex Hazelwood West junior Jessica Nichols took fifth place in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a swim of 24.2 seconds after qualifying to the medal round in 24.36 seconds. Nichols was 13th in the 100-Yard Freestyle (53.41 seconds prelims, 53.68 finals).
