North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU) announced the winners of the 2015 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest. Winners will be honored at the MLK Celebration in the Terry. E. Fisher Theatre at St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley on Jan. 18 at 3 p.m.

Grades 1-5: Shadonna Fowler, Fairview Elementary School, Jennings School District

Grades 6-8: Carlissa Hinton, Central Middle School, Riverview Gardens School District and Jordon M. Ryan, Hazelwood North Middle School, Hazelwood School District

Grades 9-12: Kenyatta Turner, Trinity Catholic High School

Adult: Tracy Hinds, Instructional Specialist, Twillman Elementary School, Hazelwood School District

Rance Thomas, President will present each winner with a check for $100.00 and a Certificate of Excellence.  Music will be furnished by NCCU member Church, Christ Our Redeemer AME Church, and Keynote Speaker will be Former Ferguson-Florissant School District’s Superintendent, Dr. Art McCoy.
