Florissant Fire District 40¢ Levy Passes;  English Beats Sharma in 68th District 

A second attempt this year to approve a tax levy of not more than 40-cents per $100 assessed valuation passed this time in the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District in Tuesdays elections. The vote was 11,238 to 8,356 with a simple majority needed.

The ballot issue stated that the funds from the levy would provide funds for the support of the district and maintain the current level of ambulance and fire service.

In the August primary elections, the 40-cent levy proposal failed by about 2,000 votes. However, on that same ballot. a $7.1 million bond issue won by more than 3,000 votes

In State House races in the Florissant/North County area, incumbents won easily in the  67th, 68th, and 69th districts.

In the 68 th District Keith English defeated Rekha (Becky) Sharma which came under late campaign negative advertising by the challenger. English got 66 percent as did incumbent Margo McNeil who defeated Republican John Vahey . Alan Green who was elected to fill a vacancy in August, won the full two-year term with a 79 percent total vote.
