Police seek information on shooter & vehicle

While a 15-year-old Florissant girl is still recovering from a gunshot wound suffered during a robbery last week, efforts continue to find the shooter. A composite drawing of the potential gunman is circulating the media and the public this week.

The father of the victim, John Garofalo held a press conference and urged the public to come forward if they have any information on the robber. Police report that two Florissant girls were walking home about 11:30p.m. last Wednesday night when they were confronted by two men at gunpoint at Spring Drive and South New Florissant Road demanding their purses and valuables.

The friend ran to a nearby house for help, but Carlie Garofalo was shot and her purse was taken. Police are looking for a 1993-97 Pontiac Firebird who witnesses say the two men fled off in after the shooting.

John Garofalo said her daughter’s improvement is coming along slowly. He hopes they can arrest the suspect so no one else has so through what their family has experienced.

Anyone with information should call the Florissant Police Department at 831-7000. The Major Case Squad also had been involved in the case.

Crimestoppers offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to a conviction. Another $4,000 was later added to reward by an anonymous donor. -Bob Lindsey
