The second annual North St. Louis County Community For Scouting Dinner was held April 18 to celebrate Scouting achievements in the North County area and to recognize honoree Robert M. Cox. The dinner, held at the Ferguson Brewing Company and chaired by Kirk Richter, helped raise $51,166 for local Scouting.

The former Vice President of Emerson Electric, Co., Robert Cox was recognized for his significant service and leadership to Scouting and the community. Cox is a member of the Executive Board of the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America and serves as its strategic plan chairman.

Last spring, community leaders and the Greater St. Louis Area Council partnered to strengthen Scouting’s presence in North County. One year later, the efforts have helped create 10 new Scout groups in the area with nearly 200 Scouts. The North Star District of the Greater St. Louis Area Council, which covers the Ferguson-Florissant, Hazelwood, Jennings and Riverview Gardens school districts, serves just over 1,100 total Scouts, 5% more youth than a year ago.
