Belated Congratulations To NCCS Girls Soccer, Boys Golf Teams

BY JIM WIENERS

When this writer of high school sports was going over the year in review a couple of teams were overlooked until just over a week ago.

While traveling past North County Christian School, while doing a family errand, it came to this writer’s attention that NCCS won Missouri Christian State Athletic Association titles last May in Girls Soccer and Boys Golf. NCCS is not a member of the Missouri State High School Activities Association.

NCCS Girls Soccer had a 9-0 season in winning their first ever MCSAA State Girls Soccer title. NCCS finished first in the Two Rivers Christian Athletic Association and won the TRCAA Tournament. The Lady ‘Saders scored 55 goals while allowing only two.

Head Coach Brianne Henrichs was named 2008 Coach of the Year; do not know if it was TRCAA or MCSAA. Lauren Bolton, Jamie Helfer and Samurai Williams were named MCSAA First Team All State while Brittany Pollard.

NCCS Boys Golf won their first ever MCSAA State team title and Steven White won the individual state championship. NCCS finished 33 strokes ahead of the unnamed second place team in the MCSAA State Championships. White won the state title by over 11 strokes over the nearest competitor, which was unnamed, which Tyler Bolton finished fifth.

NCCS, in their web site, mentioned that among the four players that counted in team scoring each one beat their opponents in head-to-head completion in the two-day tournament. NCCS, coached by Rik Maxedon, also won the Crusader Invitational.

This fall one of NCCS rivals in the TRCAA — O’Fallon, Mo., based Christian High School — will join the MSHSAA.
