Florissant Post 444 Senior Legion Baseball Are Going In Reverse

What a difference a year makes in Senior American Legion Baseball for Florissant Post 444.

Last year Post 444 started with an 11-game winning streak in route to a 31-5 season. They were 10-0 in District 10 play and were the top seed in the District 10 tournament but were eliminated in four games (2-2).

So far this season Florissant is 1-9 prior to June 27, 1-8 in District 10. That includes a nine-game losing streak after opening the season with an 8-7 win June 2 over Creve Coeur. Post 444 was to play last weekend in a tournament in Lebanon, Mo., and that included games last Saturday against Rolla and Camdenton.

Post 444 Senior Legion, prior to June 27, was ranked fourth, out of four teams in the District 10 North offensively and defensively. Post 444 has scored 3.9 runs per game while allowing an average of 11.2.

After playing Edwardsville, Ill., June 30, and Ballwin, July 1, Post 444 is playing in a tournament, site unavailable at press time, beginning Thursday. That includes playing Farmington Thursday, 3 p.m., and Highland Friday, 10 a.m.

JUNIOR LEGION-It appeared at first as if Post 444 Junior Legion was going to turn around their hopes after at 3-16 season, 2-14 in District 10, last year. In the first eight games this season Florissant was 5-3, including a 5-2 in District 10. Since then Post 444 lost five in a row and, prior to June 29, fell to 5-8 overall, 5-2 in District 10.

Post 444 Junior Legion, as of June 28, is third out of five teams in the District 10 North offensively and defensively. Post 444 Juniors have scored 6.4 runs per game while allowing an average of 6.7.

After they were scheduled to play Manchester June 29, Brentwood June 30 and Ballwin July 1 Post 444 is scheduled to play Kirkwood Thursday, 5:30 at Webster Groves High School.

ELSEWHERE IN DISTRICT 10 NORTH-SENIOR–Creve Coeur was 2-6 in District 10, 8-13 overall prior to June 30. Prior to June 29 Maryland Heights was 3-4 in District 10, 8-9 overall, not including a scheduled June 24 game against Crestwood. Prior to June 28 Thoman-Boothe was 2-6 in District 10, 3-7 overall.

DISTRICT 10 NORTH-JUNIOR–Creve Coeur leads the division with an 11-2 record in District 10, 19-6 overall prior to June 26 followed by Brentwood (7-4, 7-6 prior to June 30), Post 444, Maryland Heights (5-8, 9-18 prior to June 29) and Thoman-Boothe (4-9, 6-13 prior to June 29).
