American National Baseball teams, although not all of them have commanding records, are battling for the top of three levels of the St. Louis Amateur Baseball Association, all in their respective North Divisions.
The American National Varsity team has been at .500 overall (11-11) as of July 1, not counting games on June 21, 22 and 24. But the 9-7 SLABA record, prior to July 1 was close behind the South-West Stars (9-4 SLABA, 14-7 overall as of June 28) and the Redbirds (10-5, 15-14 as of June 25) who play their home games at Lafayette High. That is for the top of the SLABA Varsity North.
American National has scored 4.1 runs per game but led the SLABA North in defense, allowing 4.6 runs per game. American National will be playing this weekend, starting Thursday in a tournament at Gordon Moore Park in Alton, Ill. Then on July 8 at 5:45 American National will play Johnny Mac at Mehlville High.
In SLABA Juniors, as of June 28, American National, second in the SLABA Junior North, has played five less SLABA games than the Americans and American National needs help from Americans opponents. American National is 12-6 in SLABA Juniors, 17-7 overall, not including games of June 22, while the Americans are 12-1 SLABA Juniors, 17-1 overall.
American National Juniors are fourth in the SLABA North in offense, scoring 7.3 runs per game while they are second in defense, allowing 4.7 runs per game.
In SLABA Sophomores American National was going into their scheduled finale July 1 against the Americans batting the Eagles-North for the top of the North Division.

As of June 28 American National Sophomores are second to the Eagles-North in both offense and defense. Offensively the Eagles-North has scored 11.2 runs per game while American National has averaged 9.1. Defensively the Eagles-North has allowed 3.6 runs per game while American National has allowed 4.5.
