North County Tech Wins 1st District Title; Takes Boys Class 2, Dist. 2 Track & Field

North County Technical won their first-ever high school district sports title last Saturday at Orchard Farm as the Golden Eagles won the Class Two, District Two Boys Track & Field title while taking third in Girls.

North Tech scored 115 points to win the boys title by 31over second-place Louisiana while the Girls scored 73 finishing four behind district champion Orchard Farm, who barely edged Palmyra by 0.67 point.

North Tech won both boys and girls 4×100 and 4×200-Meter Relays and the boys 4×400-Meter Relay. Aaron Smith won the Boys 110-Meter High Hurdles and 300-Meter Intermediate Hurdles, Sandra Ewing won the Girls 400-Meter Dash and 800-Meter Run and Shakira Thomas won the 100-Meter Dash.

Besides the district champions North Tech qualified to compete this Saturday in Sectional One at The Principia in four more boys’ events and four girls’ events including a second athlete in the 100-Meter Dash. Also going to Sectional One to compete in individual events are Rasheem Aldridge, Brian Brown, Kevin Canady, Brandon Eaton, Marquisha Hill, Brittney Turner, Marquis White and Kennard Wells.

BOYS GOLF — Matt Pagano, Tyler Travelstead and Andrew Price, Hazelwood West; Josh Schultz, Zack Meyer and Mike Durning, McCluer North; and Jorge Martin, McCluer, will be going to the Class Four Boys State Golf Monday-Tuesday in Republic. All will compete as individuals as West took second place while McCluer North was third last Friday in District Three at Eagle Springs, won by Parkway Central.
