McCluer North, McCluer Boys And
IWA Girls Are Top Basketball Seeds

On Jan. 25, Ferguson-Florissant School District rivals McCluer North hosted McCluer in a Boys’ Suburban Conference Red pool game and the Stars defeated the Comets 67-60
However, there will be no rematch because the Stars are the top seed in Class Five, District Five, at defending State Champion Webster Groves. On the other hand, the Comets are the top seed in Class Four, District Seven at St. Charles West. Both McCluer North and McCluer Boys have first round byes.
In addition, Incarnate Word Academy, winners of five of the last six Class Four State titles is the top seed in Class Four, District Seven, and has a first round bye.
CLASS FIVE, DISTRICT FIVE — McCluer North Boys, 7-0 Suburban Red Pool, 21-3 overall prior to hosting Hazelwood West Feb. 19, can wrap up the Red Pool title with a win Thursday, Feb. 21, 6 p.m. at Pattonville. Then, the Stars play 6 p.m. at Webster Groves Feb. 26, against the winner of the Feb. 25, 4:30 p.m. game, St. Louis University High or Ritenour. Meanwhile, Webster Groves plays a 7:30 p.m. game Feb. against Chaminade.
Girls Basketball semifinals are Feb. 25 as McCluer North and Webster Groves play at 7:30 after top-seeded Nerinx Hall plays against Ritenour at 6 p.m. District finals are March 1 with the girls playing at 6 p.m. and the boys meeting at 7:45.
CLASS FOUR, DISTRICT SEVEN — McCluer High and Incarnate Word Academy are the only teams not from St. Charles County competing at St. Charles West. Both McCluer Boys and IWA Girls open in the Feb. 28 semifinal because of first-round byes.
McCluer Boys play Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. against the winner of the Feb. 26, 6 p.m. game, Fort Zumwalt East or St Dominic. St. Charles West plays in the 8:30 closer against the winner of the Feb. 26, 7:30 game, St. Charles High or Orchard Farm.
In girls’ action IWA, seeking their third consecutive Class Four State title and sixth in the last seven years, opens a four game day, 4 p.m. on Feb. 28 against the winner of the Feb. 25, 4:30 game, St. Charles West or Orchard Farm. McCluer Girls finish Feb. 25 with a 7:30 game against St. Charles High after Fort Zumwalt East plays St. Dominic at 6 p.m. McCluer or St. Charles plays Fort Zumwalt East Feb. 28 at 5:30.
District finals are March 2 with the girls meeting at 1 p.m. while the boys follow at 2:30. The District Seven champions meet the winners from District Eight March 5 at Troy-Buchanan: Boys at 6 p.m. and Girls at 7:45.
CLASS FIVE, DISTRICT SIX — At Francis Howell Central in Cottlevillle, Hazelwood Central Boys and Girls are second seeds and will play the third seeds on Feb. 26. The Hawks play Francis Howell North in the 5:30 Girls’ game and Pattonville in the 8:30 Boys’ game.
Hazelwood West plays in a pair of Feb. 25 games as the Wildcats meet Pattonville in the 5:30 Girls’ game and Francis Howell North in the 7 p.m. Boys game. Both winners play Francis Howell Central Feb. 26, at 4 p.m. for Girls and 7 p.m. for Boys.
Feb. 26 winners play in the March 1district finals as the Girls play at 5:30 while the Boys meet at 7:30. District Six winners play the District Five winners March 6 at St. Charles West as the Boys play at 6 p.m. and the girls meet at 7:45.
CLASS FOUR, DISTRICT SIX — Hazelwood East hosts the tournament and the Spartan Boys, with a first-round bye as the second seed, play in the Feb. 28, 6 p.m. semifinal against the winner of the Feb.25 p.m. game, University City or Riverview Gardens. East Girls play Saturday, Feb. 23, 2 p.m. against University City and the winner plays Feb. 26 against the winner of Saturday’s 12:30 game, Clayton or Normandy
With first-round byes as top seeds, Jennings Girls play Feb. 26, 4:30 against the winner of Saturday’s 11 a.m. game Riverview Gardens or Rosati-Kain while the Warrior Boys play Feb. 28, 4:30 against the winner of the Feb. 25, 4:30 game, Normandy of Clayton. District Finals are on March 2 at 12 noon for Boys and 2 p.m. for Girls. The District Six Champions play the District Five winners March 5 at Parkway West, with the Boys playing at 6 p.m. and the Girls playing at 8 p.m.
