Hazelwood District Hosts New Student Development Program

The Hazelwood School District served as a host site for a new statewide professional development program for student leaders aimed at raising student achievement.

Nine participants completed the 15-month Executive Development Program called the Missouri Leadership for Excellence, Achievement, and Development (MoLEAD). The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL) partnered together to administer the program.

Participants in Hazelwood included a Board member, an assistant principal, an associate principal, an assistant principal, a curriculum coordinator and teacher leaders. The group consisted of:

MoLEAD training combines online and face-to-face sessions, hands-on experiences and mentoring opportunities. The curriculum focuses on instructional leadership emphasizing new Missouri academic standards and best instructional practices. (story provided by the Hazelwood School District)
