Joe Donahue Leaving Hazelwood School Board For New County Post School Board For New County Post

After serving more than 27 years on the Hazelwood School District Board of Education, Joe Donahue is resigning to take a new job as Democratic Director of the St. Louis County Board of Elections.

To recognize Donahue’s dedication to the school district and community, a reception was held in his honor on Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the HSD Administration Building, 15955 New Halls Ferry. For the past 13 years, Donahue has been a county election serving as director of the county’s Metropolitan education and training Center in Wellston.

Donahue said financially this is a good move for him as he’s at a retirement age. He is 72 and has served two times as school board president. He was elected in April for another three-year-term, his ninth consecutive term. He currently resides in Hazelwood after living in the northeast part of the Hazelwood District for many years.
