Florissant Valley Area High School Boys Golf teams will be teeing off Monday Morning, May 5 in District Tournaments at Normandie Golf Club in Bel Nor and at Bear Creek Golf in Wentzville.
Hazelwood Central will be the host team in Class Four, District Three at Normandie and the one-day, 18-hole tournament will tee off at 8 a.m. on May 5. Competing at Normandie with Hazelwood Central will be Chaminade College Prep, DeSmet Jesuit, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer, Parkway Central, Parkway North, Pattonville and Ritenour.
The top two teams in Class Four, District Three will advance to Sectional Two, May 12, 9 a.m. at The Links of Dardenne with Francis Howell Central, a District Four participant serving as Sectional Host. The top 15 individuals from the district that are not on the Sectional Qualifying teams will advance to Sectional Two. However, a team that finishes third or lower in district play but has four or five golfers in the top 15 then that team will compete as a team but with just those golfers.
The top two teams from Class Four, Sectional Two will compete as teams in the Class Four State Championships — a two-day, 36-hole tournament — May 19-20 at Dalhousie Golf Course, Cape Girardeau. The top 12 individuals from the sectional not on the State Qualifying teams will also advance to State. However a team that finished third or lower in sectional play but has four or five golfers in the top 12 will compete for the state team title but with only the qualifying golfers.
In Class Two Trinity Catholic will be the only area representative in the District Two Tournament that will tee off at 9 a.m. May 5 at Bear Creek in Wentzville. Lutheran High St. Charles County will serve as District Host and Trinity will also compete against O’Fallon Christian, John f. Kennedy, Orchard Farm, The Principia, Valley Park, Whitfield and Winfield.
The top two teams and the top 15 golfers from teams that finish third or lower will advance to Sectional One, 1 p.m. May 12 at the Golf Club of Wentzville against qualifiers from District One and Whitfield will serve as district host. Any team that finished that finish below second in district play but has golfers among the top 15 individual finishers in districts will compete for the sectional team title.
The top two teams and the top 12 individuals from teams that finished lower than second advance to state May 18-20 at Silo Ridge in Bolivar. However, a team that finishes lower than second in sectional play will compete for the team title if they have four or five golfers in the top 12 in the non-qualifying state teams.
AAA TOURNAMENT — Trinity Catholic hosted the Archdiocesan Athletic Association Tournament April 22, which was held on the par-70 Forest Park course. St. Francis Borgia (404) won the team title by one stroke over O’Fallon Christian (405). Trinity (447) finished sixth in the nine-team meet and was led by Kyle Fite (83).
SUBURBAN NORTH TOURNAMENT — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer, Pattonville and Ritenour was scheduled to compete April 30 in the Suburban North Conference Tournament. Golf Course site and results were not available.
