Riverview Hosts Class 2, District 5 Boys Tennis, Tourney Begins May 12

Riverview Gardens High School will be hosting Class Two, District Five Boys Tennis as the team tournament begins May 12 and the individual (singles, doubles) tournament is scheduled to take place May 15-17.

Competing in Class Two, District Five along with Riverview are Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, McCluer North and McCluer. Team seeding and pairings are to take place April 30-May 7 while seedings and pairings for singles and doubles tournament play are to take place just prior to the start of districts. The team tourney matches are likely to be played at the higher seeded teams while Riverview will likely host the singles and doubles tournaments, maybe at Forestwood Park in Ferguson.

The team district champion will advance to a four-team sectional tournament May 24 at the winner of District Eight, which is a school in St. Charles County or Lincoln County. The winner of the Team Sectional Tournament advances to a four-team State Tournament May 29 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.

The singles champion and runner up as well as the doubles champion and runner up will advance to the Individual Sectionals, May 19-21 against the singles champion, singles runner up, doubles champion and doubles runner up from District Eight. Parkway Central will host the Individual Sectional. Winners from the Individual Sectional matches advance to the State Championships, May 30-31 at Cooper Tennis Complex.

CLASS TWO, DISTRICT SIX — Competing against host Parkway Central are Hazelwood West, Parkway North, Pattonville and Ritenour. While hosting the individual sectional the team district champion will compete in the May 24 team sectional at the winner of District Eight.

CLASS ONE, DISTRICT SIX — St. Charles West is the District Host and Lutheran North will be competing against St. Charles West, Lutheran St. Charles County, St. Charles High, Duchesne and St. Dominic. St. Charles West will host the Individual Sectional, May 19-21 against the singles champion, singles runner up, doubles champion and doubles runner up from District Five for the right to advance to State, May 30-31 at Cooper Tennis Complex. The team champion advances to the team sectional May 24 at the winner of District Eight, with the majority of high schools come from mid-Missouri, for the right to compete in the May 29 State Team Championships at Cooper Tennis Complex.

SUBURBAN NORTH CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT — Hazelwood Central, Hazelwood East, Hazelwood West, McCluer North, McCluer, Pattonville, Ritenour and Riverview Gardens are scheduled to compete in the Suburban North Conference Tournament May 2-3. Site information was not available but it is possible the tournament may be played at Forestwood Park.
