Florissant natives, Angela, Amy and Courtney Krechel–professionally known as “Pearl Heart”–are in the Top 10 on NBC’s Nashville Star show airing Monday nights this summer. They advanced to the Top 10 on Monday night’s telecast.

Many will recognize the trio by their former name, “Me Too” as they performed at local events such as the Florissant Old Town Fall Festival for a couple of years. Angela and Amy (20) are twins and sister Courtney (17) are competing live weekly on the show seeking the next Nashville country music star or in their case: stars.

The Krechel Family, parents Bill and Jackie, younger brother Billy, and the talented sisters moved to Tennessee in July 2006 so the girls could pursue their music career. They currently live in Thompson’s Station near Nashville.

“We are very busy with rehearsals, the band, learning songs, and with our vocal coach,” said Angela during a recent telephone interview. “Meeting the other contestants has been amazing. There is so much talent here.”

Angela, Amy and Courtney did not have to go for tryouts for the show. They said that they decided to send in a video “only two days before the deadline in March 2008 and we got the call back a week later.”

Pearl Heart has a strong fan base in Florissant and the St. Louis Metro Area of family and friends. A group of supporters from Sacred Heart Parish gather Monday nights to watch their hometown stars on the nationally televised show. They were surprised to learn of the support by their former parishioners at Sacred Heart where the family was an active member.

Pearl Heart said that the judges, John Rich, Jewel, Jeffrey Steele and host Billy Ray Cyrus have been great with advice and guidance. And no, they haven’t met Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) yet.

Contestants are eliminated each week, and the final show will air on Aug. 4 to determine the 2008 Nashville Star. The winner or winners of this year’s competition will receive a major recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville and the performance of a lifetime when they take to the world’s stage at the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing.
