Mayor Thomas P. Schneider has appointed Sonya Brooks-White as Director of Human Resources (HR) for the City of Florissant, effective February 1. Brooks-White replaces Chris Roth, who retired as Director of HR on January 31 after a 32-year career with the City.
Brooks-White previously served as HR Manager and Deputy City Clerk for the City of Ferguson, where she worked since 2003. She has nearly 20 years of HR experience in both the corporate sector and with municipal government.
She has a bachelor’s of science degree in HR Management from Kansas State University, and a master’s degree from Webster University.
In her spare time, Brooks-White officiates at sporting events for a number of organizations, including the Catholic Youth Council and the YMCA of Greater St. Louis. She is a licensed referee with the Missouri State High School Athletic Association.
“We are delighted to welcome someone with Sonya’s extensive background as our new Director of Human Resources,” said Schneider. “We deeply appreciate all that Chris has done for Florissant in her 32 years with our city government.”
Roth began her career with Florissant as a clerk typist in the Personnel and Purchasing Department, eventually being named Director of HR.
