Florissant Announces Spring/Summer Street Work Schedule, Stormwater Work

Several major projects of street work are underway or scheduled to begin late spring in Florissant, Mayor Robert Lowery announced.

Surface sealing of 129 streets will begin on June 4 with expected completion by July 10. Due to the large number of streets covered by this application, the work is not scheduled to begin until after schools have been dismissed for the summer. The contract has been awarded to Missouri Petroleum Products for $640,946.

Five streets will receive major repairs, which will involve concrete slab replacement with an asphalt overlay. Work should begin early-May and be completed within 30 days. The contract was awarded to Aulbach Contracting for $127,028.

The concrete slab replacement contract will not be opened to bidding until late summer after the more extensive work has been completed. Preliminary estimates for this project are $250,000-$300,000.

Two street/stormwater projects are underway in Old Town with one nearing completion.

Phase III (St. Joseph/Jefferson streets) has experienced set-backs due to various required utility relocates and sub-base street problems. N.B. West Contracting is the contractor performing this work at a cost of $621,000. Project is estimated to be complete by the end of May.

Phase VI (Boone/St. Antoine streets) has begun. Work is estimated to be complete by late summer or early fall. Utility relocates are being performed by Missouri American Water Company, A T & T, Ameren and Laclede Gas Company. Some sewer line replacement work has also begun. Gershenson Construction Company is the contractor on this project at a cost of $409,220
