Florissant’s annual Veterans’ Day Parade, held on Nov.10, was followed by a presentation of the Veteran of the Year award at the grounds near the Civic Center.

This year’s parade marshal was Kenneth Hoffman, who was last year’s Veteran of the Year winner. The guest speaker was long time radio personality Paul Arca who runs Creative/ Commercial Production at 590 The Man/ 1380 The Woman.

The 2013 Veteran of the Year award went to: David D. Miller for his dedicated service in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and his continuing service to veterans and to the community in the following years were contributing factors in his selection.

Mayor Thomas Schneider issued special thanks you to:

• Catherine Boyer for providing the music

• 54th Street Bar and Grill for providing the box lunches

• Wedding Wonderland Cake shop for providing the cake to celebrate the 238th anniversary of the US Marines
