SLCC-Florissant Valley Hosts Junior College Softball, Baseball Regionals

St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley is hosting the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II, Region XVI Softball and Baseball Tournaments.

Region XVI involves 19 junior colleges in the entire state of Missouri, competing in Division I and/or Division II sports. Single division sports are considered Division I.

Florissant Valley will host the Regional Softball Tournament May 2. Florissant Valley, STLCC-Forest Park, Cottey College (Neosho), East Central College (Union) and Mineral Area College (Park Hills) will be involved in this two-day double-elimination tournament. Games are scheduled for 10 a.m., 12 noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on May 2 and 10 a.m. 12 noon and 2 p.m. on May 3 and the tournament winner advances to the Division II National Tournament May 15-17 in Normal, Ill.

One week after the Softball Regional Tournament Florissant Valley will host the Regional Baseball Tournament, May 8-11, game times to be announced. Florissant Valley, Forest Park and Longview Community College (Lee’s Summit) are among the teams competing. The Regional winner advances to the District Tournament, May 15-18 at a site to be determined and the district winner advances to the Junior College World Series, May 24-30 at Millington USA Stadium, Millington, Tenn.

TRACK & FIELD — Florissant Valley has one meet left, the Lindenwood University Invitational, May 10 in St. Charles, before competing the NJCAA Division I Outdoor Nationals, May 15-17 at South Plains College, Levelland, Texas.
