NCT First To Compete In District Track; McCluer North Hosts Districts, Sectionals

North County Technical High School will be the first area high school to compete in District Track & Field Saturday, May 3 while the rest of the Florissant Valley area high schools will be in Districts on May 10.

North Tech will be among 17 high schools that will travel north of the City of St. Charles, to Orchard Farm High School, for the Class Two, District Two Meet. Among the high schools participating at Orchard Farm include Barat Academy, the newest Catholic High School in St. Charles County, Metro High, Crossroads College Prep, Transportation and Law and Whitfield.

The top four finishers in each event, 18 boys and 18 girls, will advance to the Class Two, Section One Meet May 10 at The Principia in West St. Louis County. Qualifiers from District Two will compete against those from District One with the top four finishers from each event advance to the State Class Two Championships May 16-17 at Lincoln University’s Dwight T. Reed Stadium, Jefferson City. Class One athletes will also compete that weekend.

Meanwhile McCluer North will have two weeks of Class Four Track & Field competition beginning with the District Four meet on May 10. The top four from each event return to McCluer North May 17 for the Section Two meet, competing with the top four from each District Three event. The top four in each Section Two meet will advance to the State Class Four Championships, May 23-24 in Jefferson City.

All eight Suburban North Conference high schools will be at McCluer North and that includes all three Hazelwood School District high schools — Central, East and West — McCluer High, Pattonville, Ritenour and Riverview Gardens. Also competing at McCluer North in District Four are Normandy, a former Suburban North School now in the Suburban East Conference, DeSmet Jesuit, an all-boys school, Incarnate Word Academy, an all-girls school, and Parkway North, from the Suburban South Conference.

In Class Three Trinity Catholic will join Lutheran North in the District Three meet at Mary Institute-Country Day School, May 10. Also appearing at MICDS are Suburban East rivals McCluer South-Berkeley and Jennings as well as Clayton, Duchesne, John Burroughs, Ladue-Horton Watkins, Soldan International Studies, St. Charles High, St. Charles West, University City, Westminster Christian Academy and two all-girls high schools, Villa Duchesne and the Academy of the Visitation.

The top four from each Class Three, District Three event will compete against the top four from each Class Three, District Four event May 17 in the Section Two meet at Mexico High School. The top four from each Class Three, Section Two event advance to the State Class Three meet May 23-24 in Jefferson City.

The Suburban North Conference Tournament started April 30 and will conclude May 1 at McCluer High. Meanwhile McCluer South-Berkeley will host the Suburban East Conference Tournament May 1. Trinity Catholic was at St. Dominic April 30 for the Archdiocesan Athletic Association Tournament.

On April 19 at John Burroughs Lutheran North took second to Lutheran South in the Boys’ ABC League Tournament. Also April 19 at Burroughs Incarnate Word took eighth while Lutheran North took 11th in the Midwest Women’s Athletic Association Tournament.
