Thirteen years ago, St. Louis Rams Quarterback Kurt Warner and his wife Brenda started Warners’ Warm-up to collect and distribute coats to those who need them in the region. Over 165,000 coats later, the Warners’ Warm-up Coat Drive has become a dependable resource for impoverished men, women and children in the area.
Warners’ Warm-up is collecting coats until Thursday, Nov. 14. As in past years, area residents are encouraged to donate new and/or gently-used winter coats which will be distributed to schools, homeless shelters and other social service agencies throughout the region this winter by Operation Food Search. While winter coats of every size, shape and color are needed, the greatest need is for children’s coats and new coats.
Monetary donations are also encouraged via the First Things First website at www.kurtwarner.org. A $20 donation will buy a new Columbia coat for a child in need.
Individuals may drop off new or gently-used winter coats at area Walgreens, FedEx Office, LookAfter Hair Company, USAgain bins and participating local police stations and credit unions. A complete list of drop-off locations is available at www.kurtwarner.org.
“St. Louis is a special city,” said added Kurt Warner. “Thanks to an amazing community spirit, we have distributed more than 165,000 coats thru Warners’ Warm-up – an average of more than 12,000 coats per year! But the need always surpasses what we collect!”
The Kurt Warner First Things First Foundation, in collaboration with the following groups:
Operation Food Search, is teaming up with FedEx Office, Walgreens, LookAfter Hair Company, A-Mrazek Moving Systems, KMOV-TV, KMOX/Y98/Fresh 102.5 (CBS Radio), USAgain, and participating American Cleaners, Credit Unions and police stations in both St. Louis and Southern Illinois for the thirteenth annual Warners’ Warm-up Coat Drive.
Warners’ Warm-up will be held Friday, Nov. 1 through Thursday, Nov. 14.
