Florissant P.D. Seeks Help With Copper Burglaries

The Florissant Police Department has announced an increase in the amount of copper burglaries taking place in unoccupied homes in Florissant.

In a copper burglary, someone breaks into the residence and steals copper piping. The burglars then sell stolen copper to scrap yards.

The Police Department reminds residents that often, the people who commit these burglaries look like they are workers hired by the homeowner. Often, neighbors see the burglars, and simply assume that it is someone who is doing some sort of work at the property.

The police department is asking residents to be aware of unoccupied homes within their neighborhoods, and to report any sort of suspicious activity to the police department as the activity is occurring.
