Members of the Florissant Police Department delivered gifts to three local schools in Florissant as part of the second annual Heros for the Holidays campaign. The gifts were given to parents of 35 kids so they can make their kids’ Holiday Season special.

Florissant Police DARE Officer Lessie Summers coordinated this effort between the police department and school officials who identified families in the school who needed a little extra help this year. Several members of the department as well as city employees donated over $2,200 which Officer Summers and Officer Owen used to purchase the gifts.

The Florissant Police Department also finished handing out 45 $100 gift cards to unsuspecting recipients as part of the Summons of Joy program. This program was highly successful in helping the police department connect with the community and give back during the holiday season.

The program would not have been possible without the help of the members of local churches who donated the money for the gift cards.

“I would like to thank all the men and women of the Florissant Police Department for their continuous support to the community. This is just another example that shows how the police department is very committed in not only protecting and serving the residents but are truly committed in taking a proactive approach to do what is good for those families that are in need during this holiday season,” said Chief Lowery.
