Hazelwood Council Considers Ford Plan At April 2nd Meeting

The Hazelwood City Council will consider approval of plan to redevelop the site of the Ford plant for warehouse and light industry at the council’s Wednesday, April 2 meeting.
(The Independent News mistakenly reported last week that the meeting was on April 3. The Hazelwood City Council normally meets the first and third Wednesday of the month.)

Panattonia Development Company, which has other projects in the metro area, wants to tear down the old Ford plant and redevelop the area with light industry and a warehouse complex. Plans call for 11 new buildings totally 2.6 million square feet of space on 155 acres.

Hazelwood city officials contend the redevelopment will be a major effort to maintain the city’s position as an employment center for the St. Louis region.

‘This will move an empty site into a productive location for Hazelwood,” Mayor T.R. Carr said last week. Not only would Hazelwood benefit, but so will the entire North County region, the mayor added.
