Florissant Council Honors Those Who Helped with Tornado Cleanup

Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider and the Florissant City Council awarded certificates of appreciation to several organizations and businesses that helped out after the April 10th tornado. Honored were Passage Church, Meridian Waste, Military Veteran Team Rubicon, Sage Tree Service, and AmeriCorps.
Mayor Tom Schneider said the city wanted to honor these groups for their efforts in helping clean up the city after the tornado. Schneider also praised other North County communities for their help in Hazelwood.
“After the immediate aftermath, it began apparent that we had a quite a mess to clean up,” Schnedier said. “We had a lot of people who couldn’t help themselves, and these individuals really came through.”
During the Council Announcements section of the meeting, Councilman Tim Lee said he appreciated the mayor honoring these groups. “They are not affiliated with the city, but they stepped up,” he said.
In other matters,
Meridian Waste will continue to be the only trash collector for the city of Florissant. The Florissant City Council, at their last meeting, once again entered into an exclusive license agreement with Merdian for solid waste collection services for the residents of Florissant.
The council authorized the transfer of a Special Use Permit from D’Angelo Automotive to Old Town Automotive for the operation of an automotive repair service with the sale of vehicles for the property located at 1104 N. Jefferson.
Approved the transfer of the balance of approximately $62,000 in the Home Equity Assurance Program (HEAP) Fund to the General Fund in order to close out the HEAP fund.
