Hazelwood Central and Lutheran North are among the top seeds in Missouri State High School District Girls Soccer which begins May 11.
Pattonville, Suburban North Conference leaders as of May 5, is also the top seed while Trinity Catholic and Incarnate Word Academy are seeded second. Lutheran North, Pattonville, Trinity and IWA are district hosts.
Hazelwood Central is the top seed in Class Three, District Three and will be played at Florissant Civic Center Park, next to the James Eagan Civic Center and across Waterford Drive from McCluer North High and the Ferguson-Florissant School District Administrative Center. The only exception is May 11 when Hazelwood East hosts Riverview Gardens at 11 a.m. and the winner plays Hazelwood Central May at 6 p.m. Meanwhile tournament host McCluer North takes on McCluer May 14 at 4 p.m. and the May 14 winners play at the Civic Center May 16 at 6 p.m. and the winner hosts the District Four winner in a May 21 Sectional, time TBD.
Despite a 6-10 record prior to May 6 Hazelwood Central was 4-0 against all district opponents — including McCluer North, the only team in Class Three, District Three with a winning record (9-5 prior to May 4) — and the Hawks outscored these district opponents 26-2.
Pattonville Stadium will be the site for all Class Three, District Four games beginning May 11, 12 noon, with Parkway North taking on Ritenour and the winner playing Pattonville, May 14 at 6 p.m. Also on May 14 Hazelwood West takes on Parkway Central May 14 at 4 p.m. and the May 14 winners play for the district title May 17 at 6 p.m. with the winner visiting the District Three winner May 21, Time TBD.
Lutheran North hosts Class One, District Five against four Public High League teams. It began May 11, 10 a.m., with Northwest Academy of Law playing Sumner and the winner plays Lutheran North May 13, 4:15, the same time Metro plays Soldan International Studies on a second field with a parking lot separating the two fields. The May 13, 4:15, winners play May 14, 4:15 for the district tile and the right to host the District Six winner in a May 21 Sectional, time TBD.
Metro has the best record among district teams, 12-5 prior to May 7, but is seeded second to Lutheran North, 7-11 prior to May 6. Trinity Catholic, seeded second, will host third-seeded Orchard Farm, May 14, 7 p.m. in Class One, District Six. This District begins May 11 with a 12 noon game between North Tech and McCluer South-Berkeley with the winner to face top-seed Duchesne, May 14, 5 p.m. The May 14 winners play for the district title, May 15, 6 p.m. for the right to visit the District Five winner in the May 21 Sectional.
Incarnate Word Academy, due to decrease in student enrollment from the 2011-2012 school year (actual or adjusted unavailable), dropped from Class Three to Class Two but is seeded second in District Five and will host Ladue May 14 5:30. The tournament, at IWA, begins May 13 at 4 p.m. with Clayton taking on University City and the winner playing top-seeded Mary Institute-Country Day School May 14 at 4 p.m. The May 14 winners play for the district title, May 16, 4 p.m. for the right to host the May 21 Sectional, time TBD, against the District Six winner.
IWA, 9-6-3 prior to May 6, has won 28 district titles in a row since MSHSAA started sanctioning the championships in 1985 while MICDS, 13-1-1 prior to May 7, is looking to win their first district title.
