Hazelwood School District Partners with Spanish Lake Youth & Family Resource Fair

The Hazelwood School District will once again partner with Spanish Lake Youth and Family Council, St. Louis County and the Spanish Lake Community Association in the 7th Annual Youth and Family Resource Fair on Saturday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Twillman Elementary School, 11831 Bellefontaine Road.

Vershaun Howze, HSD director of enrollment, said  “Our goal is to provide information and services in one central location, to make it convenient for our families to gain access to products and services right here in our community. Given this is a family event, we have several fun-filled activities planned for our children.”

Families and youth in Spanish Lake and surrounding communities will be able to get information to help them provide a safe and enriching summer for their children and find useful resources to get through the economic downturn.

According to Lottie Wade, chair of the Spanish Lake Council, “Area residents will be able to get information that they can immediately use. A range of agencies, organizations, government and faith-based groups will provide information in areas such as summer activities and educational support services for children; recreation, scholarships and job training opportunities for youth. There also will be basic needs information for families such as food and shelter resources, substance abuse prevention, counseling and child safety.

“Last year’s resource fair was a huge success with more than 200 participants and more than 40 vendors. We anticipate an even larger turnout this year. This is a great example of community organizations working together to ensure that citizens are aware of the resources available to them,” said Wade.

There will be fun activities and free books for children.  For more call (314) 741-4100.
