Hazelwood East Hosting Special Olympics Track

Hazelwood East High School will sponsor its annual Special Olympics Track and Field Event on Friday, May 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

More than 170 athletes from 10 elementary schools are expected to participate.
Students will compete in the 50-meter, 100-meter, 200-meter and low-motor skills runs, softball throw, tennis ball throw, shot put, running long jump and a standing long jump. There will also be an Olympic Village, cookie decorating, face painting and a duck pond.

Participating schools include Ackerman, Bel-Nor, Bel-Ridge, Fairview and Lewis & Clark. Hazelwood elementary schools that are involved include Cold Water, Grannemann, Jamestown, Russell and Twillman.
