Hazelwood Mayor Files for State Rep. Seat

Mayor T. R. Carr has filed for the November election to House District 78. District 78 serves parts of the cities of Hazelwood, Florissant and Bridgeton.

Carr has served the citizens of Hazelwood and the North County area for the past eight years in his role as mayor. He has actively cooperated with St. Louis County, the State of Missouri, and with various organizations on issues facing Hazelwood and the North County area.

Carr is currently president of the St. Louis County Municipal League, chairman of the Community Advisory Board of SSM DePaul Hospital, board member of North County Incorporated, a board member of the St. Louis County Fire Standards Safety Commission, and a Member of the Leadership Circle of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA).

He has received awards recognizing his leadership and his commitment to Hazelwood and North County. These include the “Buzz Westfall Award for Excellence in Local Government” from the St. Louis County Municipal League, and the “Leadership Award for Business Development for Hazelwood” from North County Incorporated.

Carr and his wife Lucy are natives of North County, graduates of McCluer High School, and their son graduated from Hazelwood West High School in 1998.
His son Doug is a university professor in Michigan.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to represent Hazelwood, Florissant and Bridgeton in House District 78 in the State Legislature and to work to strengthen all of North County,” said Carr in a press release announcing his candidacy.
