District Basketball Finals Saturday At Riverview Gardens, MS-Berkeley

High School Basketball District Tournaments end this Saturday for Class Five, District Seven and Class Four, District Five.

At Riverview Gardens the Class Five, District Seven Tournament concludes Saturday with a 10 a.m. Boys game and a 1 p.m. Girls game. In the Boys final McCluer North, Suburban North Conference and 2007 State Champion, or Riverview Gardens will play McCluer or Hazelwood Central. In the Girls final Suburban North Champion Hazelwood Central or Riverview Gardens will play 2007 State Runner up Hazelwood East or
Suburban North Runner up McCluer North.

Last Saturday in District Girls Hazelwood East routed McCluer, 62-25 while Riverview Gardens defeated Hazelwood West, 64-53. Last Monday in District Boys Riverview Gardens defeated Hazelwood East, 76-58, while Hazelwood Central defeated Hazelwood West, 64-48. Saturday’s winners play the following Wednesday in the Sectional Round at St. Louis Community College at Meramec Quarterfinals are March 1 at University of Missouri-St. Louis’ Mark Twain Building.

McCluer South Berkeley will host the Class District Five championships as the top seeds and newly crowned Suburban East Conference champions in both Boys and Girls while Jennings is seeded second in both. Girls play, which began last Tuesday, continues Thursday with University City or Rosati-Kain playing at 5:30 against MS-Berkeley while Soldan International Studies or Miller Career Academy playing Jennings at 7:30. Boys Basketball, which began Wednesday, continues Friday as Jennings takes on University City at 5:30 while MS-Berkeley plays at 7:30 against Soldan or Miller Career Academy.

The Class Four, District Five title games are Saturday at 5:30 for girls and 7:30 for boys with the winners playing the following Wednesday at Parkway West.

Quarterfinals are March 1 at Hazelwood Central.

Incarnate Word Academy, newly crowned Metro Women’s Athletic Association-White Division champions, played this past Wednesday in Class Five, District Three at Parkway Central against Pattonville. That winner faces Francis Howell North or Parkway North Friday at 5:30 at Parkway Central and the district winner plays Feb. 27 and, if they win that Sectional game, March 1 at UM-St. Louis.
Class Three, District Five tournament pairings were not available at press time.

Cardinal Ritter, Lutheran North, Lutheran-St. Charles County, North County Technical, Trinity Catholic and Whitfield are scheduled to play sometime on or between this Saturday and March 1 at Orchard Farm. The district winners play March 5 at St. Charles West.
