The Price is Right Comes to Branson

Excitement and anticipation are the names of the game as audiences go wild for The Price is Right Live game show at the Welk Theatre providing  a few entertainment venture for Branson.

After paying their $33 to attend the 90-minute show, contestant hopefuls fill out their entry slips and get their big price tag nametags.  Then, they fill the auditorium and bounce up and down in their seats as they excitedly wait for their names to be randomly called with the directive, “Come on down!”

Todd Newton, former South St. Louis County resident, hosts the popular show just as Bob Barker or Drew Carey would do on the televised version.  In fact, everything is just like the TV show, except only the Branson audience gets to see it in a live stage production

More than 50 people’s names are randomly drawn during each show and when those names are called, craziness ensues.  They run up on stage screaming and cheering, anticipating that their knowledge of prices will help them win cash, appliances, vehicles and dozens of other prizes.  They don’t care if they’re called to play Plinko, the Big Wheel, Cliffhanger, or the Showcase Showdown; they just want to be called.

Instead of commercials, the audience watches video clips of previous TV episodes featuring some of the nuttiest contestants.  It’s amazing how excited some people can get at the mere chance of winning a prize.  And even if your name is never called, you have experienced 90 minutes of exciting anticipation and that’s the real fun of The Price Is Right.
