Christmas in Old Town on Sat. Dec. 8 Includes Family Fun & Tree Lighting

Old Town will be all decked out for the holidays when “Christmas in Old Town Florissant” is held on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Florissant City Hall.

The celebration begins at 2 p.m. in the Council Chambers with music on the patio.

Santa Claus will arrive at city hall at 2:15 and invites all children to visit him. Santa’s elves will take a picture for a small fee, or bring your own camera.

Several activities will be available in addition to Santa. The St. Louis County Library will sponsor a make a craft activity. Children can also decorate a cookie, have their face painted by the Valley of Flowers Queen and maids, get a balloon sculpture from Cookie the Clown, listen to a Christmas story, buy a great Christmas book or two, and shop the boutique for a special gift for that special person (no gift over $3).

There will also be seasonal music on the patio, cookies and cocoa.

At 6:30, Mayor Tom Schneider will flip the switch and light the Florissant Christmas Tree. Schneider warned at the last city council meeting that the lighting last year was a few minutes early, and advised people to arrive by 6:15.
