Ferguson StreetFest Offers Something For Everyone Sept. 21-22 at Citywalk Area

The organizers of this year’s Ferguson StreetFest must believe that variety is the spice of life, because the festival will offer a variety of bands and a variety of activities.

The Ferguson StreetFest will be held on Sept. 21 and 22 in the Ferguson Citywalk District, 20 S. Florissant Road.

StreetFest opens at 4 p.m. on Friday, and Blues performer Cee Cee James will be the first performer to take the stage at 5. She’ll be followed by R&B and pop performer and American Idol finalist Nikko Smith at 7. Finally, That 80’s Band will wrap up the evening from 9-11.

StreetFest reopens Saturday at noon. Local performing groups will play from 1 to 2:30, Plastic, featuring music from the 80’s to today, will play from 3-4:30, and Blues performer Marquise Knox will play from 5-6:30.

Joe Dirt and the Dirty Boys will perform Classic Rock from 7-8:30, and oldies band Butch Wax and the Hollywoods will end the evening, performing from 9-11.

Besides music, StreetFest offers several different activities. There will be a home brew booth this year. Demonstrations will be held at 4 on Friday and at 1 and 6 on Saturday. Home brew experts will be on hand to answer questions.

A washers tournament begins at 1 on Saturday. From 3 to 6 on Saturday, visit the dunking booth for the Guns ‘n Hoses Dunkbooth Showdown. Dunk a firefighter from the Ferguson Fire Department from 3-4, or a Ferguson Police Officer from 5-6. The team that raises the most money wins the traveling trophy, and all proceeds go to Backstoppers.

One of StreetFest’s most unique events, the Manly Man High Heel Keg Relay, will take place Saturday from 4:30 – 5. In this race, the manly men competitors don high heels and carry a keg.

During both days, a variety of other activities are held, including a rock climbing wall, a tie-dye your own StreetFest t-shirt booth, a petting zoo, face painting with BeBe the Clown, Joe the Juggler, a Youth Circus Show and a Comedy Magic Show from the City Museum
