Event will be Sept. 15 at St. Ferdinand Park

Mayor Thomas P. Schneider has announced that  Florissant will again be hosting a major electronics recycling and household goods collection event for City of Florissant residents.  Residents will need to provide proof of residency by providing staff a current resident card or a Meridian Waste or utility bill and a driver’s license.

The recycling event will be on Saturday Sept. 15, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in St. Ferdinand Park at the rear parking lot … rain or shine.  Signs will be posted at park entrances to direct residents.

The Mayor has reached an agreement with Lewis C. Chartock, president and CEO of Mers Goodwill, to set up this collection event.

Acceptable items to be collected are computers and all of their accessories, networking and telecommunications equipment, phones (home and cell), clocks, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, stereos, A/V equipment including cable and satellite boxes, home electronics and appliances in any condition. Also non-electronic household item(s) in good condition will be accepted.

Mers Goodwill will have heavy equipment and employees on hand to assist in the drop off process.  Residents may also request a receipt to be used for a tax deduction as a donation to 501C Mers Goodwill.  This drive has been highly successful in the past.

The mayor encourages all esidents to participate.  Recycling conserves our natural resources, saves money, creates jobs, eliminates waste in landfills and reduces harm to the environment.
