Keith English, Sharon Pace, Rochelle Walton Gray are Winners in State Rep. Elections in North County

Incumbents took a hit in the Democratic primaries on Tuesday with three area incumbents losing their bid for reelection in this primary.

Florissant Councilman Keith English defeated incumbent Bert Atkins with 53 percent of the vote in the state representative 68th district race.. Incumbent Bert Atkins got 37 percent of the vote while Todd Hoffman gathered 10 percent of the votes. English will now face Republican candidate Rekha Sharma in November.

Incumbent C.M. Spreng, who had previously won her husband’s seat in the 74th District, lost  to Sharon Pace by a 67-31 percent vote. In the 75th District Rochelle Walton Gray defeated incumbent Sylvester Taylor by a 60-40 majority. In the 67th state representative district Steve Webb won easily (73-27 percent) over Tony Weaver.

Gina Walsh, who had the backing of labor and retiring State Sen. Tim Green’s constituency, easily won the State Senate District 13 nomination. She will be a heavy favorite  against  the Republican Jacquenlyn Thomas in the November election.

The General and Presidential election will be Tuesday, Nov. 6.                                                                                                       –Bob Lindsey
