Municipal League Installs Mayor Schneider as President

The St. Louis County Municipal League recently held its First Annual Muni Awards presentations. The awards were created to recognize outstanding leadership in the region. The league also installed new officers.

Florissant Mayor Tom Schneider was installed as president of the league. He thanked the league and called serving as president an honor.

Florissant Police Chief William Karabas received the Muni Award for Public Safety for his efforts in creating an effective inter-departmental communication system among police an fire chiefs within the St. Louis region. Karabas serves as chairman of the St. Louis County Emergency Communications System Commission, which oversees the communications system.

Schneider said that in 2012, municipalities still benefit from strength in numbers to address concerns about adverse state and federal legislation. He also noted the contribution of the league in promoting the best practices of cities.

Other new 2012-2013 League officers include: Vice-President, Mayor Arthur McDonnell of Kirkwood; Finance Chairman, Mayor Scott Douglass of Clarkson Valley. Executive board members are Mayor Patrick Green of Normandy; Mayor Monica Huddleston, of Greendale; Mayor Pat Kelly of Brentwood; Richard Lahr, Mayor, Rich Magee, Mayor Paul Marti  of Oakland; Mayor William Nolan Jr. of Sunset Hills; Debi Salberg, Councilmember, of Webster Groves; Mayor Mike Schneider of Overland; Mayor Gerry of Webster Groves; and Mayor David Willson of Manchester.
