Valley of Flowers Award Winners

Winners of the Valley of Flowers parade, Pretty Baby contest, and Tot Wheels parade,  have been announced.

Queen Candidate Elly Freesmeier was sponsored by Sacred Heart Church. Their Wizard of Oz theme float took first place in the category Best Theme Unit (James J. Eagan Award). Freesmeier was named first runner up to the queen. Photo by Bob Lindsey

In the parade, Sacred Heart Church won the Best Theme Unit (James J. Eagan Award) went to for its float featuring queen candidate Elly Freesmeier.

Who’s Next won the Best Decorated Car award. The Best Organization award went St. Rose Philipine Duchesne Church for its float featuring queen candidate Kelsey Fanning. One to Grow On, Inc won the Best Commercial Unit award.

The Best Antique – Auto award went to St. Louis Maritial Arts Center, sponsor of queen candidate Katie Driscoll. The Best Antique – Vehicle Award went to Welsch Heating and Cooling.

The Best Walking Unit Award went to Young Ladies that Empower.

In the Pretty Baby Contest, Khaidyn Hopwood won in the personality category and Kyle O’Donnell won in the popularity category.

First place in the Tot Wheels, ages three and under category went to Josiah and Lidia Marner. First place in the Tot Wheels, age four to six, went to Ava Wiegand.

The queen and her court were announced Sunday after the parade. The 2013 Queen is  Kelly Mahaffy, sponsored by Citizens National Bank. First Runner-Up is Up Elly Freesmeier,  sponsored by Sacred Heart Church. The three Special Maids are Alex Holzum, sponsored by Old Town Donuts, Brittany Spiva, sponsored by NCCU, and Kameryn Bellinger, sponsored by Goldmark Enterprises.
