Up to 5,000 attend fundraiser for Officer Michael Vernon

A few thousand people from the Florissant and other areas attend the fundraiser for Florissant Police Officer Michael Vernon who recovering from gunshot wounds suffered while on duty May 26. The  fundraiser event at Joe’s Pub in Old Town Florissant featured live music, raffles and drawings, too.

Officer Vernon is currently being treated at DePaul Hospital Vernon has a spinal cord injury . He  is reported to be in  high spirits, and he is determined to fight through his injuries.  He  has expressed appreciation to the community’s outpouring of support.

Warrants were issued Monday, May 28,  charging Brian Lamont Cannon Jr.  of St. Louis with the shooting of Officer Vernon.
