Big Day For Valley of Flowers, But Not For The St. Louis Blues

By Randy Gardner

What a weekend it was as the Valley of Flowers parade ended up having great weather and a great turnout, even though it was pretty warm.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who said “hi” and that they read my column. I really appreciate it. I look back at some of the columns over the past 14 or 15 years and the message seems to always be the same, a lot of losing in this town but more than a few moments of spectacular wins.

Never is this more true than now, as the Blues took it  on the chin badly in the 2nd round against Los Angeles. Even though they were down 3 games to none, I felt like there still might be a chance.

Sunday proved to be a no go as the Kings laid it on the Blues, who never really had a chance in this series.

They were outplayed, out muscled and out manned.

They are still a young team though and we have a lot of good years to look forward to. Also, with the Blues on the selling block, how will this affect the team and their future? Will there be big changes beyond Brent Hull coming back (as   that looks like more than a rumor) or will the transition be seamless and mostly behind the scenes for the public.

I would love to know what it feels like to be in a locker room when a team that has played their last game in the playoffs or even the season come in and clean out their lockers. Yes they must be disappointed but remember they are all millionaires and are going to be going on a long vacation where they have no worries. How sad can it be?

Down deep do you think that they really care that much? Pack the bags and move onto the beach and be with the family.

Whole Town Still Curious About Albert

Did you get a chance to see what the Angels did to Albert Pujols when he finally hit that first  home run over the weekend? If you didn’t, he hit the home run and ran the bases then headed for the dugout where all of the players had left and went back to the clubhouse.

I would be really curious to see how Albert and the teammates have handled this whole situation. Do you sit back and let him do what he needs to do, or do you laugh and joke about what he hasn’t done? I know that I shouldn’t really keep an eye on him and his dealings but you can’t help it. After what he did to St. Louis, I think some people still wish him the worst. I am over it. The Cards are fine.
