Hazelwood Central Boys, Hazelwood East Girls Win Suburban North Relays

Hazelwood Central and Hazelwood East Varsity Track & Field teams dominated March 31 in the Suburban North Conference Relays at McCluer North High School.

Hazelwood Central boys, who won Class Four State the last two years, scored 146 points to win the boys relays while Hazelwood East took second with 125. Ritenour follows at third place with 113 followed by McCluer (100), McCluer North (96), Riverview Gardens (68), Hazelwood West (67) and Pattonville (20).

Hazelwood Schools took the top three in the girls’ relays as East won with 144 points, Central was second with 140 and West was a distant third with 114. McCluer North was fourth (88) followed by Ritenour (75), McCluer (59), Pattonville (50) and Riverview Gardens (44).

Hazelwood Central won five boys relay events — 4×100, 4×200, 4×400, 4×800 and 800 Sprint Medley — and two girls relay events — 4×400 and 4×800. Thedrick Davis helped Central by winning the 1,600 Run.

Hazelwood East did not win any boys events but won four girls relay events — 4×100, 4×200, 800 Sprint Medley and 400 Shuttle Hurdle. Hazelwood West was led by William Bahan, 3,200 Meters, and Lauralyn Rosenberger, Pole Vault.

McCluer dominated in field events but also won the Girls Distance Medley Relay. In Boys field events Tyrone Griffin and Malik Ray shared first in the High Jump, Curtlan Gavin wins the Long Jump and Darrion Dillard won the Triple Jump. Girls had a two-event field winner in Alauna Ray, High Jump and Triple Jump.

McCluer North Boys won the 4 x 1,600 and Distance Medley Relays and the Stars were led individually by Aaron Mallet, 300 Hurdles, and Keith Jones, Shot Put. On the Girls side McCluer North was led by Kimberlin Simon, 300 Hurdles, Alicia Shivers, Shot Put, and Marie Prophete, Discus.

Ritenour won three boys and two girls’ events including the Boys 440 Shuttle Hurdle Relay and the Girls 4 x 1,600 Relay. Danny Askew won the Boys Pole Vault, Dovonte’ Simons won the Boys Discus and Sydia Darker won the Girls Long Jump. Pattonville was led by Jessica Hohenstein, Girls 1,600 and 3,200 Meters.
